Do you have experience performing systems engineering on complex systems?

 

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!

 

We are seeking a highly dynamic and creative Systems Engineer to work the Tomahawk Weapon System to engage with staff from APL, the Government, and other contractors to assess current performance and influence system development. As a member of our team you will help define, design, integrate, test and evaluate current and future missile and weapons control system capabilities.

 

As a Tactical Weapon System Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to ...

  • Perform systems engineering activities such as developing requirements, architecture, and interfaces, identifying trade studies, and assessing risks.
  • Work with government sponsor, industry, academic, and government laboratory staff to conduct research, trade studies, and engineering analyses to identify and apply promising emerging technologies to advanced weapon systems applications.
  • Effectively communicate proposed concepts and analysis to our sponsors.
  • Produce reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research/Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Science or another related field.
  • Have at least three years of relevant experience in systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Are highly skilled in early concept development and performing assessments that take into account cost, schedule, and performance criteria.
  • Demonstrated capability working with engineering teams, test facilities, and/or sponsors to execute development test.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact with sponsor representatives.
  • Have the ability and willingness to travel periodically to work with prime contractors and Government Labs; approximately two-three days per month.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research/Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Science or another related field.
  • Have knowledge and experience with Planning, Programming and Budgeting, Acquisition Process/Lifecycle, Research and Development, Test and Evaluation of DoD Systems.
  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in weapon system engineering.
  • Have experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and practices to complex systems development.
  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance or above.
