About the Role:

Responsible for supporting the efficient and timely delivery of critical Clinical Development objectives by identifying process- and systems-based opportunities for improvement and working cross-functionally to effectively implement change management solutions. Works closely with Clinical and Medical leadership to develop strategic business plans and goals, annual budgets, reporting metrics, information system requirements and associated reporting capabilities. Oversee and manage multiple major projects within the Clinical Development portfolio to deliver timely and effective data solutions.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Provide both strategic and project management oversight of key initiatives as identified by the Leadership Team which may include the leaders of Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance (DSPV), and BioMetrics, that require a high level of organization, change management support, strategic thinking, and alignment of cross-functional leaders and teams to achieve the desired outcomes

  • Define the business systems needs for Clinical and Medical and partner closely with functional leadership, Information Technology (IT), and other key cross-functional stakeholders to identify and implement fit-for-purpose solutions

  • Develop, design, and implement reporting metrics (qualitative and quantitative) and dashboards that meet the business needs and objectives of the Clinical Development organization

  • Partner with Leadership in driving the development, implementation and tracking of strategic plans, including capacity modeling, scorecard progress reviews, budgeting and operations

  • Responsible for integrating cross-functional project work to facilitate effective communication across teams to help drive the progress the progress of Clinical Development Programs

  • Work closely with Finance and Accounting in support of their reconciliation efforts; work closely with Functional Leaders to maintain visibility into spending commitments, ensure they are tracking with planned budgets and communicate unanticipated deviations from plans

  • Manage vendors, consultants and other third parties and

  • Lead department, project teams and related initiatives as appropriate

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Master's Degree and 8+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience in a Clinical Development/Medical Affairs role or related field with direct Operational experience OR

  • PhD and 4+ years of related experience as noted above OR

  • MD and 2+ years of related experience as noted above

  • Previous managerial / functional management experience also required

  • Effective project manager committed to setting and meeting aggressive timelines; proficiency in project management software (e.g. Smartsheet, Microsoft Project) strongly preferred

  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to build successful relationships with internal experts/teams and other stakeholders

  • Maintain operational excellence including managing a high performing team, ensuring timely entry of activities into system of record, providing team activity reports/dashboards and adhering to all compliance SOPs

  • Ability to analyze and summarize data, think critically, manage projects, influence others, work in a team environment, and synthesize complex clinical and non-clinical statistical and medical information to effectively communicate medical and scientific information are required

  • Excellent presentation and highly proficient computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Requires broad understanding of the processes, procedures and systems used to accomplish the team's work and familiarity with the underlying concepts in other disciplines within the function

  • Applies in-depth understanding of how own discipline integrates within the function and understands contribution to Neurocrine's achievement of business objectives

  • Must convey a professional attitude and demeanor, demonstrate attention to detail, and possess flexibility and self-motivation

  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams when needed; strong indirect leadership skills

  • Ability to lead to a small team or multiple shared resources

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including publication/medical writing experience is required

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $154,700.00-$224,075.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
