Job Description
General Description:
The Nursing Lab Assistant will provide support to the Lab Manager, Lab Staff, Nursing Faculty, and students for the Nursing Skills Laboratory.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Responsible for the coordination, tracking, follow up and the scheduling of make-up lab hours for nursing students absent from scheduled labs.
  • Responsible for tracking and follow up of open lab hours for nursing students according to their enrolled level of the nursing curriculum.
  • Assist with set up of campus laboratory for student skills demonstration, practice, and testing sessions.
  • Assist with break down, cleaning and storage of small equipment utilized during demonstration, practice, and testing sessions.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment and inventory.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
    • Computer competency not limited but to include Windows, Canvas, and internet applications like web-based training EHRs.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.

 


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree (or higher) in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License in Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Some experience in a Nursing related field.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend hours.

Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some experience and competencies related to the clinical nursing environment.
  • CPR certification.
