POSITION TITLE: Wellness Center Resource and Event Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Academics

REPORTS TO: Dean of Academics

STATUS: Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Wellness Center Resource and Event Coordinator will identify and maintain community and online resources for students and community members. This position will also manage, track, distribute, and report on Emergency Aid to students. As the Event Coordinator, this position will be responsible for coordinating on-campus events with departments and programs. The Coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills in order to connect with students and the community and bring awareness to and steer people to useful programs for access to basic needs and mental health assistance.

EDUCATION: Two-year college degree in any discipline with a Bachelor’s degree preferred in areas of psychology, public administration, public health, health-related field, or social work. Equivalent experience and certifications will be considered.

WELLNESS CENTER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 50%

  • Provides coordination for developing and implementing resource plans in collaboration with department programs and partnerships in the community and outside sources to set up presentations
  • Oversees the development or revision of the Wellness Center's policies, procedures, and operational activities
  • Provide a safe and confidential environment where students can seek advice and referral on health and safety matters.
  • Curates community and cultural resources for students and provides programming to bring awareness to these resources.
  • Navigates students, staff, and community members to appropriate resources, including mental health services.
  • Controls emergency aid funding, student applications, disbursement, data collection, and reporting.

EVENT COORDINATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 50%

  • Create, revise, and maintain policies and procedures for the use of the main campus kitchen and Benny Tonce Drum Room for on-campus events.
  • Works with departments and programs to assess event needs and aid in purchasing/acquiring supplies.
  • Identify and direct appropriate staff and faculty to aid in food preparation and event execution.
  • Coordinates meal planning and clean up with faculty and staff to plan and serve Monday drum meals.
  • Distribute the event and kitchen policies to outside organizations hosting events on the LLTC campus.
  • Bring focus and knowledge to healthy and traditional foods.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Experience in budget tracking and reporting

2. Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.

3. Serv Safe Training (could be provided)

4. Experience in handling crises and tolerating stress professionally.

5. Must have experience in community relations and engagement.

6. Understanding knowledge of and commitment to the mission, vision and goals of LLTC.

7. Demonstrated commitment to serving students from diverse backgrounds, interests, goals, and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Excellent interpersonal leadership skills.

2. Ability to effectively plan, develop, and implement Wellness Center and other policies and procedures in written form.

3. Knowledge of technology used in educational programs and services

4. Computer and technical skills, especially those related to data entry and reporting (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

5. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be detail-oriented.

6. Strong public speaking skills with the ability to speak in front of large and small groups.

7. Experience that indicates the ability to interact effectively with leaders among Indigenous communities, government agencies, scientific and academic communities, medical and health-related organizations, non-governmental groups, and the public at large is required.

8. Ability to demonstrate team building through positive relations with co-workers, students, and community partners.

9. Capable of managing multiple roles and responsibilities with limited supervision.

10. Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.

11. Ability to make effective decisions and take independent action.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Minnesota driver's license and current auto insurance.

Leech Lake Tribal College adheres to Native American Preference laws.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and use proper body mechanics

Be able to sit or stand for long periods.

Subject to internal working conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
