The University of Notre Dame is hiring a Building Controls “B/C” Technician. This role is perfect for someone with high math and science capabilities. These abilities, along with a curious mindset and troubleshooting skills are key to solving complex control issues. This job is not sitting behind a desk or working in the inside all day. The successful candidate will engage with campus partners in a wide range of facilities. As a part of the Facilities team you will play a key role in helping others across campus. by solving a multitude of HVAC issues through a diagnostics process that includes the use of multi-meters, computer interface, critical thinking and interfacing closely with controls technicians and engineers alike. You will be challenged daily with new and interesting problems to solve and find yourself working on some of the most sophisticated and beautiful buildings constructed.


Some of the job description we have to include:
The “B” Building Controls Technician shall assist in the maintenance, monitoring, alarm response/dispatch, calibration, and repair of all heating, ventilating and air conditioning controls under the responsibility of the Utilities Department, including, but not limited to those controls associated with the Central Building Automation System (CBAS).
The “C” Building Controls Technician is an entry level position where an employee works through a prescribed program of training, course work and practical experience to achieve a level of competency that allows the employee to perform at the level described for a “B” Building Controls Technician.
Respond to emergency calls as directed. Response includes overtime and off-hour responses as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical School, or Apprenticeship Program Graduate or equivalent required.

Must possess 4 years of experience with the following:
- HVAC Repair
- CBAS Operations
- Pneumatic and Electronic Controls Theory and Operation

The following recognized certificates or licenses are necessary for this position:
- Drivers License
- Completion of CBAS System technical courses for operations, troubleshooting and programming of overall system and associated components.
- Completion of VFD commissioning and troubleshooting course must be obtainable


Must possess the following required special knowledge, abilities or skills:
- Building HVAC systems, controls and associated equipment knowledge
- Pneumatic/electronic controls operation, troubleshooting and repair
- Computer literacy to allow for interface with CBAS systems
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills both written and verbal
- Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
