The laboratory of Dr. Samira Kiani and Mo Ebrahimkhani at the University of Pittsburgh has an immediate opening for an outstanding, highly motivated, and self-driven Postdoc to join a cutting-edge research program on engineering immune tolerance by combining mRNA technologies, nanoparticles, and epigenetic editing.

The PIs are interested in developing novel approaches to modulate immune response. This project aims to specifically engineer immune tolerance against gene therapy. The ideal candidate has prior experience in immunology, in vivo mouse models, or nanoparticles. There is an industry relation component in this project that the candidate gets to experience as well. In this role, the individual will be responsible for conducting the in vivo animal studies, from preparing the reagents to doing the animal studies and downstream assays.

Minimum/Basic Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in bioengineering and relevant experience working with nanoparticles, mRNAs, gene editing, and immunology. Candidates need to be able to legally work in the US and be available to start immediately.

Appointment: This position reports to Dr. Samira Kiani and Dr. Mo Ebrahimkhani and is part-time (maximum 50% FTE) situated at the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center and the main campus of Pittsburgh University School of Medicine. Initially intended to be for one year there is the possibility of renewal, dependent on available funding, performance, and the needs of the University.
