SUMMARY
Provides support related to operational HR function including compliance, benefits, leaves and HRIS. Acts as Human Resources Business Partner to assigned groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Administer employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, various voluntary plans and wellness programs. Manages vendor relationships; related contracts and bills; benefits systems; employee enrollments and changes; communication; open enrollment; and digital and physical files. May manage additional benefits programs.
  • Participates in employee onboarding by conducting benefits orientation.
  • Provide support to the Compensation function including completing compensation surveys, conducting market analysis and annual merit review process.
  • Manage Leaves of Absence administration.

Compliance

  • Ensure Company compliance with current local, state and federal legislation.
  • In conjunction with HR Team Members, Legal and other key stakeholders, review and update Employee Handbook, policies, and update postings as necessary.
  • Responsible for completing state and federal reporting and audits.

HR Operations & Other

  • Assists with internal HR Operations including developing and updating internal workflows/processes and providing oversight on record keeping practices; May serve as lead on special internal initiatives/projects.
  • Oversight for the HRIS and related processes; Serve as HRIS back-up for HR Coordinator.
  • Prepares various trainings, reports, documents, and presentations as necessary.
  • Serves as backup for HR Coordinator on New Hire Orientation, HRIS and other HR processes.

HR Business Partner

  • Serves as an HRBP to assigned groups to assist with cross-functional items such as annual performance review and merit process, internal equity and competitive positioning. Provides guidance to resolve employee relation issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Position generally requires a bachelor's degree and 5+ years Human Resources experience. HR certificate coursework preferred. Previous work/familiarity with HRIS, compensation programs and benefits enrollment systems required. Good understanding and application of Human Resources policies, practices and procedures. General understanding of Federal and CA employment law. General knowledge of current benefit regulations (including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA). Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while acting with a sense of urgency is a must. Demonstrates good judgment and possesses basic resolution skills. Must possess at least intermediate technology skills; including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as database (ADP WFN a plus) and spreadsheet applications. Able to work both independently and as a member of a team with excellent customer service skills. Strong sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidential information critical.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Intermediate skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Intermediate skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires an excellent sense of judgment, diplomacy and tact.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required. PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification a plus.
