Minimum qualifications include being in the final semester or having graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration, General Studies, or a closely related field within the past 18 months. Under general supervision, learns to perform professional duties associated with staff recruitment and placement at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Serves as a staffing partner focused on professional and/or custom class civil service vacancies. Coordinates employment activity for civil service classifications and serves a client base of colleges/units helping to fill professional vacancies. Serves as a liaison between client units and Illinois Human Resources Talent Acquisition.

In this role, you'll learn to:
  • Initiate vacancy postings and monitor the process;
  • Coordinate recruitment for civil service roles;
  • Cultivate partnerships to understand business needs;
  • Facilitate collaborative assessment and referral processes;
  • Enhance diverse candidate pools;
  • Conduct applicant reviews;
  • Conduct training sessions to educate and improve hiring efficiencies;
  • Advise on promotional opportunities;
  • Interpret and apply policies and procedures;
  • Track and analyze employment metrics;

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5020 - Human Resource Associate College to Work position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/13/2024. The salary rate will be $20.22/hr, with regular increases reaching $30.77 by the end of the second year. Based on meeting position goals, you'll see your first increase after just three months.
