 Essential Functions

 Collaborate on grants and contract proposals, and projects.

 

May assist in the formulation of research objectives and determine the scope of methodologies of research projects and areas to be evaluated; provides feedback relating to research design, planning, instrumentation, statistical analysis, and reporting; works with researchers on the administration of experiments and interpretation of results for research and teaching.
 

Assist with conducting data quality assurance procedures, prepares research data sets and documents data structure and definitions.
 

Collects, compiles, and analyzes research data to include the use of statistical methods and relational databases to analyze data sets; may prepare and provide presentations for professional organizations, governmental entities, and the public; communicates research results through conference presentations, scientific publications, or project reports.
 

Analyze and interpret economic, financial, and statistical data.
 

Analyze regional economic data and produce policy-oriented research briefs.
 

Conduct economic impact analysis using IMPLAN or other input-output modeling software.
 

Write technical papers or summary of findings and prepares standards and specifications for processes.
 

Contribute to the Institute’s monthly newsletter.
 

Assist the Executive Director and the Director of Research to identify and apply for external funding opportunities that align with the mission of the institute.
 

May participate in writing and coordination of proposals to secure external funds for research initiatives.
 

Maintains and keeps up-to-date regional economic indicators’ databases.
 

Assist the Executive Director and the Director of Research in maintaining and updating existing databases of available reports, and scholarly and professional analyses in the area of regional economic development.
 

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
 

Participates in academic economic conferences, symposia, and other related events of interest.
 

Contributes to the implementation of the Hunt Institute’s goals and objectives according to the University’s policies and procedures.
 

Complies with all State and University policies.
 

Other duties may be assigned.
 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
May carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies, and applicable laws.

 

Qualifications


 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: PhD

Experience: No years of experience required.

Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods and their application to research analysis; of measurement, testing, and evaluation; and of research methods, principles, techniques, and philosophies.

Skilled in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and in using computers, software, and statistical tools and programs.

Ability to plan, organize, and oversee research projects, evaluate research data, ensure the development of measuring instruments with respect to reliability, relevance, and validity, interpret and publish research findings, and communicate effectively.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Economics (or related discipline)

Demonstrated success in conducting independent research related to economics.

Proficient in statistical tools and programs (such as R, Stata, or Matlab).

Ability to plan, organize, and oversee research projects, evaluate data, interpret, and publish research findings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Additional Information


 This role is temporary with the possibility of an extension beyond the specified end date, subject to funding availability.
