Your next role as a Miracle Maker
Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Research & Development - Biology team as an R&D Biology Intern. In this role you will gain hands on experience with mRNA cell based assays.
Project Overview: The intern will be introduced to the scientific concepts and standard processes involved in functional evaluation of mRNAs in cell-based assays. They will be trained in in-vitro cell culture, mRNA transfection, and expression assays. After demonstrating proficiency by transfecting cells and evaluation expression of control reporter mRNAs, they will perform cell-based assay experiments with novel modified mRNAs.
Project Milestones:
- Train on lab basics: safety, pipetting, assays/instruments, etc.
- Review relevant scientific concepts: Cell line culture, mRNA structure and function, mRNA transfection, ELISA, etc.
- Perform a guided cell-based assay experiment.
- Perform an additional independent cell-based assay experiment/analysis.
- Once proficiency has been demonstrated, screen a manageable number of novel modified mRNAs.
- Prepare and deliver a presentation summarizing findings to the R&D team.
Requirements:
- Must be pursing an undergraduate degree, currently in the Junior year or first semester of senior year. Preferred areas of study are biology, immunology.
- Previous cell culture wet lab experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both in a team setting and independently
- Experience with word, excel, and PowerPoint presentation a plus
The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
