Summary of Position

The Memorial Union Building (MUB) Facility Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and long-term planning needs of a 145,000 square foot facility including supervision of housekeepers, conducting repairs, and serving as liaison to UNH Facilities, building tenants, and external vendors. Each year the MUB sees over one million visitors and supports approximately five thousand meetings and events. This role lends critical support to both the University and Memorial Union missions – enhancing student success and well-being, supporting a wide variety of student life activities, and creating opportunities for student development and engagement.

  • Proficiency with repair tools and techniques and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) building systems

Duty/Responsibility

Memorial Union Facility Management:
  • Conduct routine inspections to monitor condition of building structure, mechanical systems, and interior surfaces.
  • Review and assign all service requests and work orders submitted daily. Monitor flow of requests to avoid backlogs and service interruptions.
  • Manage building maintenance and housekeeping budgets.
  • Oversee minor building repairs or light carpentry projects as appropriate – fixing furniture, hanging items, painting, etc.
  • Meet weekly with MUB Operations Team to support ongoing meetings and events.
  • Manage building keys as well as after-hours building access.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with UNH Facilities staff, building tenets, Fire Marshal, and external vendors conducting work in the building. Establish cooperative relationships and maintain clear communication.
  • Respond to facility related emergencies and oversee any restoration efforts.
  • Serve as the MUB Telecom Account Manager (TAM) coordinating new phone or network requests.
  • Consult with UNH Asset Renewal & Improvements staff to develop comprehensive furniture and equipment replacement cycles.
  • Assist with capital planning as well as large scale repair and renovation projects.

Duty/Responsibility

Provide leadership for personnel for housekeeping and maintenance of the department, to include:
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate two full-time hourly professional staff (Housekeepers).
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate approximately 25 part-time hourly student employees (Facilities Assistants).
  • Ensure risk management protocols are followed in the execution of employee duties.
  • Coordinate inventory and purchase of cleaning and general maintenance supplies.
  • Maintain equipment utilized by Housekeepers and Facilities Assistants.
  • Schedule annual cleaning and maintenance projects during university break periods.

Duty/Responsibility

WUNH Radio Station Support:
  • Coordinate site visits by Telecom carriers renting space on off-site radio tower.
  • Work with student staff, UNH Facilities, and equipment providers to keep extensive $2,000,000+ equipment infrastructure operational 24/7 365.

Duty/Responsibility

Additional administrative duties include:
  • Maximize use of resources including funding, personnel, facilities, and time.
  • Participate in policy development and revisions related to general building policies.
  • Serve on Memorial Union and university committees as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans.
  • Gather and evaluate critical building data for reports including maintenance and repair records, people counters, etc.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to remain at the forefront of the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
