Associate Dean and Director, CARE Team

Job Description

ASSOCIATE DEAN AND DIRECTOR, CARE TEAM, Student Support and Wellbeing, to lead a dynamic team supporting MIT students in acute distress.  Will lead one of the Institute’s most critical, highest functioning, and collaborative teams, the CARE Team Network, and provide leadership around student support during campus crises.  The CARE Team is the thread that is woven through MIT’s support network and ensures that students receive support that is transparent, proactive, and compassionate.  The team manages student cases from open to close; facilitates wellbeing checks; supports students transitioning to/from MIT due to hospitalizations, leaves, and returns; and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure that students are receiving timely attention and follow-up. Will work in an on-call rotation with the team, one week each month. There is flexibility, but the need to always keep an eye on student issues and organize a high volume of information is essential.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in a related field; five years’ experience in higher education or closely related setting; knowledge of case management systems; experience responding to crisis situations; impeccable judgment and experience managing risk; success compiling and communicating highly confidential information; excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills;  experience working with diverse populations; familiarity with mental health terminology, including diagnostic categories and treatments; and knowledge and understanding of student and medical privacy guidelines/regulations.  Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability; work independently; take initiative; plan, develop, organize, and follow through on projects/plans in a dynamic, high-pressure environment; and work within a comprehensive student support database and reporting system.  PREFERRED:  masters’ in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.  Job #23900-9

Salary: mid-$100k to low $120k, depending on relevant experience and education
