The Program Coordinator coordinates the Cross Cultural Leadership Program, Latino Spirituality Initiative, and Hispanic Heritage Month series. This position is unique because ILS focuses on supporting the year-round academic enrichment activities that engage students in the supplementary major/minor program, the Latino Studies (Merit) Scholars Program, and Faculty Fellows. This position will work with a small dedicated team that is focused on expanding popular Latino Studies themed activities for undergraduate and graduate students. This is the perfect time to become involved in the Latino Studies Scholars Program, the first in the nation that pairs a merit award with leadership in U.S. Latino communities.. It is a very rewarding job that aligns with the original mission of the university.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overall administrative support to the Institute of Latino Studies to ensure smooth operations of the department
- Manage all logistics of meetings, committees, program calendars, etc. to support the Associate Director in year round activities
- Support the Associate Director in the management of the selection process for incoming students and summer enrichment placements for enrolled students
- Coordinate operational and administrative processes for those interested or enrolled in the Latino Studies Scholars Program
- Provide support and resources for students enrolled in the Cross Cultural Leadership Program, Community Engagement Course
- Communicate with nonprofit organizations, develop and execute evaluation surveys to community partners, review student, supervisors, alumni, and faculty feedback
- Monitor and process the accounts payable for all Latino Studies Scholars Program, Academic Program, and Cross Cultural Leadership Program related speakers, events, stipends, travel, and activity costs
- Assist the Associate Director in drafting budgets and tracking projected v actual expenses
- Other duties as assigned
Please note: This is a two-year, limited-term position. Contingent on funding, the position may be extended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relative field
- 6-12 months of administrative experience
Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English and Spanish. Inter-cultural competence is a must.
- Strong organizational skills and a high degree of independence and initiative; must be flexible, creative, and responsive.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously with close attention to detail.
- Fast learner; ability to use and adapt to new technology and software applications.
- Experience bookkeeping for multiple accounts and preparing budget reports as requested for each fund.
- Affinity with Notre Dame mission, vision, values, as well as the Catholic character of the University.
