Montgomery College has an immediate for a Director, East County Education Center (ECEC) in Silver Spring, MD. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This is an exempt, non-bargaining , grade 37 position.

The Director is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the East County Education Center, coordinating center operations, ensuring continuous collaboration and communication, and supporting the center's strategic growth opportunities. 


Contacts include faculty staff, students, community members, and business leaders in promoting and advocating for Montgomery College and the East County Education Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Center Leadership

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of ECEC, providing support to the ECEC team.
  • Supervise an administrative assistant.
  • Provide responsive support for students, faculty, staff, and community members at ECEC
  • Lead efforts to increase civic engagement among faculty, staff, and students
  • Promote a sense of belonging at the center


Communication in the Community

  • Promote college mission as a spokesperson for ECEC
  • Support the College’s advocacy efforts with elected and appointed officials, as well as business and community leaders


Representation in the Community

  • Serve on State, County, and local boards as assigned; participate in local civic and community organizations’ activities
  • Support recruitment of new students and various outreach initiatives in coordination with the College’s outreach plans

Internal College Collaboration

  • Provide information to assist College leadership with the planning and management of center and College resources to accomplish the teaching/learning mission of the College and to promote student success
  • Work in concert with Administrative and Fiscal Services personnel to maintain and make available center facilities for employees and community use
  • Communicate requests to Academic Affairs and Student Affairs for programming, student services, and engagement activities in response to student requests and faculty and staff recommendations
  • Lead, in collaboration with Sr. VPs, Vice Presidents, deans, department chairs, and program directors, center activities that complement and align with Collegewide planning efforts
  • Lead grants and private gift initiatives for the center-based programs
  • Provide leadership in collaboration with senior leadership of the College for review processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Seven years of experience in progressively responsible positions within higher education, including three years in a leadership role fostering and building community partnerships
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a minority-serving institution.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, French or Amharic)

Hiring Range: $110,133 to $151,447 annuallyInitial salary placement is based on internal equity and relevant candidate experience.  Please include a complete resume/application including all relevant or related experience.
