Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) is seeking adjunct candidates for its Early Childhood Development program. In this capacity, one may teach various courses in Early Childhood Development. The College seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.
Instructors will be responsible for teaching Early Childhood Development courses.
Other responsibilities include participation in the following: achievement of the College’s mission and goals; upholding the College’s values; and personal and program evaluation.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Master’s Degree is required, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the specific discipline. Official transcripts may be required
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Competence to teach courses with multicultural perspectives in a community college setting with a focus on student learning.
- Experience with the use of online course management systems, i.e. Canvas
- Ability to impart excitement and enthusiasm into teaching.
- Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness and characteristics.
