Key Qualifications

  • Expert in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), preferably in high volume consumer electronic products.
  • Proficient in Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL or other FEA tool (Abaqus preferred)
  • Highly experienced in structural analysis that involves non-linear materials and boundary conditions. Other desired expertise includes heat transfer, thermal-mechanical analysis, electromagnetics, acoustics, fatigue and fracture mechanics.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, kinematics, and dynamics
  • Skilled in statistical data analysis and data visualization
  • Experience with 3D CAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
  • Works well in a team and collaborative multi-functional environments


Description

The Haptic Engineering team develops innovative haptic solutions that are central to Apple's products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch. Our key goal is to enable the world's best user-experience and explore the possibilities using haptics. We are a highly multi-functional team working in a hands-on environment that values creativity, engineering excellence, and passion for innovation. New challenges arise every single day that require the sharp analytical skills of talented and smart individuals. As the in house FEA expert, you are responsible for building accurate and trustworthy finite element models that empower the mechanical design team to project performance of key figures of merits and to pursue design optimizations in concept development stages. Your work is also critical to help the team identify root cause to engineering failures, especially when physical measurement is challenging. Your will be expected to: - Generate finite element models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies - Perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis - Communicate and report analysis results to cross functional peers and management - Provide specific design feedback to the mechanical design team - Own and drive material characterization to improve correlation between model and experimental data - Coordinate and work with other analysts to integrate module models into larger system assemblies - Generate new intellectual property

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $131,500.00 and $243,300.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
