Executive Director/Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce

Nature and Extent of Assignments

The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations and providing strategic leadership to drive our mission forward. This is a senior leadership position that requires exceptional management skills, business acumen, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

Budget & Business Plan – The Executive Director is responsible for identification of the Chamber, tourism entity, and community needs, and for the preparation of a business plan and budget designed to meet these needs. This involves constant evaluation of all three roles that they will be responsible for with recommendations for change as needed, and a system of measuring progress toward attainment of program and community goals.

Chamber Structure and Procedures – The Director must pay constant attention to the internal structure of the Chamber and tourism entity to ensure that the organizations are effectively geared to function with maximum efficiency in the anticipation, identification, and solution of Chamber, tourism entity, and community problems. The Director will recommend to the appropriate Board such changes in structure and procedures as are needed.

Finances – The Director is responsible for developing the Chamber and Tourism (Marketing) budgets and relating budgets to the program goals. As approved by the Boards, the Director is responsible for all expenditures within the framework of the budget. He/she will prepare quarterly financial statements of income and expenses and ensure financial reviews are conducted as requested. He/she will seek maximum staff efficiency in all financial procedures and will prepare weekly deposits and payables for all accounts.

Membership – The Director will work to recruit and retain new and existing Partners to support the Chamber’s efforts.

Tourism & Marketing – The Director will work closely with staff to oversee and assist with developing overall marketing strategies to promote the Green Lake area while overseeing the marketing budget. They will assist in the selection of vendors and provide analytics for the results of these campaigns.

Economic Development – The Director will execute initiatives and activities to facilitate local business attraction, expansion, and retention, conducting business evaluations/surveys, and providing general economic development resources to assist our businesses.

Staff – The Director is responsible for the employment of all staff personnel, the assignment of their duties, the supervision of their work, the development of training as necessary, and the establishment –within the framework of the approved budget of the terms of their employment. As indicated by the business plan and budgets he/she creates such departments as are needed to implement the program.

Office – As approved by the Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for the location, design and maintenance of the office that will provide for an efficient operation and present an attractive “front door” for the use of Chamber Members, the community, and visitors.

Abilities/Skills – This individual must have experience and demonstrated proficiency in event planning, marketing tactics, finances/budgeting, and current technology trends and tools such as CRM database, QuickBooks, Constant Contact, Dropbox, Canva, and social media platforms. The Director will oversee the day-to-day operations and be responsible for implementing the room tax budget of marketing expenses, membership, economic development, finances, and implementation of all Chamber-related events.

Events/Committee Work – The Director will be responsible for participating in committees as appointed; Green Lake City Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee, Green Lake County Economic Development Committee, Green Lake Country Visitor Bureau Board, GLACC event committees, and all other committees as appointed. He/she must oversee and attend all Chamber events; WinterFest, Job Expo, Annual Meeting, GL Bike 100, Wednesday Concerts in the Park, July 4th, Wine Walk, Harvest Fest, and Holiday Event.

Requirements

  • Five or more years’ experience in a non-profit leadership role, marketing, advertising, event planning, or related experience.
  • Professional with strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills and highly organized
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Google Docs, Word, and Excel
  • Physically fit and able to lift 30-50 pounds and a valid driver's license

Compensation

Full-time, exempt position. Salary and benefits are based on experience.
