DESCRIPTION

The Clinic Manager of the Voice & Swallowing Center within the Department of Head & Neck Surgery (HNS) oversees clinic operations for new clinic in La Jolla, managing multiple providers, clinics, practices, and the service line of Head and Neck Surgery. This role includes supervising clinical staff involved in the operational functions of the clinic, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage clinic operations across multiple provider types and locations, utilizing a service line management, and local clinic management approach.
  • Supervise clinic operations Monday - Friday 8am-5pm, with pre-and-post clinic hours as needed, ensuring we have sufficient resources to meet our patients needs.
  • Manage UC San Diego Health's alignment goals including patient access, experience, quality, engagement, and efficiency - in addition to HR functions, financial performance, revenue cycle, coding and billing, procedures, inventory, facilities, patient safety, and patient coordination.
  • Supervise direct patient care staff, such as medical assistants, RNs, and Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs), in dyad partnership with the SLP Manager, Clinic Medical Director, and Department Chair of HNS.
  • Promote the goals of UC San Diego Health, the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, and the Voice & Swallowing Center through strong dyad partnership, in alignment with UC San Diego Health's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Head and Neck Surgery sub-specialty services and collaborate with the UC's, UCSDH, and departmental leadership.
  • Implement the 5-year approved strategic plan, including the opening of a new center in La Jolla, CA, hiring new staff, expanding ambulatory services, and meeting access, experience, quality, and efficiency metrics.
  • Assume HR responsibilities for clinic staff, including annual staff evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, staff development, and recognition.
  • Coordinate with surgical vendors and hospital administration to order necessary supplies for direct patient care
  • Work with revenue cycle and division teams to prepare monthly and annual reports to sustain and improve the financial success of the center and department.
  • Work with care team members, infection control, and ambulatory nursing to ensure endoscopic quality processes are followed to ensure safe patient care.
  • Lead Lean huddles and initiatives with direct care team, across surgical specialties, and push alignment goals across scope of practice.
  • Other business needs, as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training including four (4+) or more years in healthcare operations.

  • Experience and proven success in clinic/center management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology.

  • Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Surgical clinic or Otolaryngology operations management is highly desired.
  • Expert knowledge of data management tools such as Tableau, NRC, Press Ganey, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PPT, SharePoint, etc.
  • Project management experience and Lean Training a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in Laryngology terminology.
  • Private practice and/or academic healthcare setting experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in management of endoscopic procedures.
  • Previous electronic medical record experience, preferably EPIC.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
