Software Engineer - 24-008 - San Diego, California


AUSGAR Technologies has a new opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our team of smart and innovative technical team members working in the Point Loma area of San Diego, California.

  • Support the SSC PAC Radiation Detection, Implementation and Computation (RADIAC) program in the design, development and deployment of radiation detection systems. Work with an interdisciplinary team of technicians, engineers and scientists to research detection technologies, interface with users to understand needs and requirements and field complete radiation detection solutions.
  • Provide engineering support, process management and quality assurance for the RADIAC project.
  • Perform system testing and document results at various stages of production. Testing may include component evaluation, subsystem checkout and whole system test.
  • Interface with and support RADIAC system users in various training events and exercises.
  • Develop technical descriptions and materials for RADIAC systems.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • BS degree from an accredited university/college in Computer Engineering or related field and six months to five years of experience.
  • Will design and evaluate new equipment, operating systems and software for possible inclusion into the program.
  • Ensure operational performance of the solution and its scalability as the program grows.
  • Design and maintain redundant hardware/software solutions.
  • Support the implementation and design of network architectures/infrastructures.
  • Clearly document and deliver technical reports to senior leadership.
  • Develop and test embedded firmware and/or software code to implement system requirements and features.
  • Support team efforts to integrate prototype electronics components into engineering prototype systems.
  • Support iterative development and system-level testing with the firmware and software designs.
  • Test and debug embedded firmware and software designs in support of team efforts to understand and correct design and manufacturing flaws when they arise.
  • Develop and maintain design and manufacturing documentation and procedures.
  • Expected travel: 10%.

Salary Range: $95-110K


An essential qualification for this position is successfully obtaining a Secret security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.


AUSGAR's salary range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include experience, skills, education, certifications and geographical location. Our salary range includes a base salary and excellent benefits package as part of our total compensation.
