Your Role

The Third Party Application Solutions personnel within the Software Development Centers Of Excellence team perform hardware and software system administration as well as set quality expectations. The Senior Application Developer & System Administrator will report to the Centers Of Excellence Senior Manager. In this role you will execute hands-on patching and upgrade functions, create automation solutions to reduce or eliminate repetitive manual activities, and perform traditional design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and support activities as directed by the Health Solutions portfolio in support of the use of the Epic software platform. A smaller portion of the role requires establishment of quality expectations and learning academy curriculum for all activities above that guide less experienced developers and consultants who perform these or similar duties for the Epic platform.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

• Adopt and apply software engineering concepts and processes to software development
• Provide input to designs and technical specifications
• Develop user interfaces and application programs using the technical specifications and design documents provided
• Test, debug, and maintain code according to the technical specifications
• Provide knowledge transfer to less experienced staff
• Perform Windows Server 2019+ administration including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Manage the backend components of Epic, ensuring smooth operations
• Perform regular preparations, staging, testing, and deployment of application & server upgrades, patches, and system maintenance
• Collaborate with other technicians & teams to address disk space issues, bugs, configuration, backup, and recovery fail-over & testing to ensure system stability
• Make high-level design and technical specification decisions related to systems architecture & infrastructure management specialized in Epic systems
• Automate systems administration tasks using PowerShell and YAML integrated with Ansible & Azure
• Handle top-level problems including low-level troubleshooting that others can't solve
• Be a technical champion and advocate for the optimization of solutions needed to support Blue Shield's growth and financial goals
• Provide technical leadership in establishing a competency center that educates other IT professionals on EPIC Administrative design & development practices

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Requires at least 5 years of experience in computer related support field
• Experience performing Systems Administration & Application Development in SaaS applications such as the following activities: Windows Server 2019+ administration; Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) administration; DNS configuration, domain services; group security policies, hardware or software load balancing solutions such as F5 Big-IP or Citrix NetScaler; networking - including DHCP, DNS, HTTP, TCP/UDP, and both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols, Linux server administration; application deployment platforms such as Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop; PowerShell & YAML
• Intermediate-level expertise in Microsoft Azure and Ansible automation
• Be self-directed, work with limited management direction, and exercise considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment
• Demonstrated ability to formulate strategies, communicate and build alignment on concepts from ideation to execution
• Strong ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
• Ability to assess potential opportunities, risks, and issues, and make recommendations to resolve or course-correct, as necessary
• Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create, translate, and execute technical deliverables
• Proven experience educating & influencing others and collaborating across all functions and levels in a highly matrixed organization
• Preferred Certifications in systems administration: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA); EPIC: Epic Client Systems Administration (ECSA100, ECSA101, ECSA105, ECSA115); Agile: RTE (Release Train Engineer), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
• Preferred experience with continuous integrating and continuous deployment practices
• Preferred infrastructure management experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
• Strong technical acumen & deep working knowledge of Agile Methods, Service Architecture, and enterprise Cloud Integration
• Application development including integration/extract development & API integration
• Experience working with external vendors & distributed on/offshore teams

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 99000.00 to $ 148500.00 for California.
