Technical Associate I, Tsai Lab

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab, to assist with creation, maintenance, and experimentation using human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and embryonic stem cells (ESCs).  Will work closely with several researchers to create differentiated neural cell types such as neural progenitor cells and mature neurons from iPSCs and ESCs. Much time will be spent on the maintenance of cell lines, including media changes, subculturing/splitting, transference of cell colonies, and basic microscopy. Duties include creating specialized media formulation and maintaining an inventory of stem cell reagents and stock chemicals; preparing specialized culturing surfaces and maintaining a well-organized inventory of cell lines stored in liquid nitrogen; and routine stem cell core maintenance. Will work under the supervision of lab managers and the manager of the Picower Institute iPSC Core Facility. 

This position would be ideal for a self-motivated individual who is interested in working in the cutting-edge field of human stem cell models of disease.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, or related field; two years related experience, including at least one year of cell culture experience; excellent sterile technique; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Seek someone with a flexible approach to the work who is able to implement and evaluate novel technical approaches as new protocols are constantly being published for the creation of neural cells from human stem cells. PREFERRED:  experience in epifluorescent and confocal microscopy.  Job #23875
