Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab, to assist with research on the effects of neurodegeneration on neuronal activity and cognition in various mouse models.  Duties include rodent stereotaxic surgery, in-vivo electrophysiology, fiber photometry, and/or optogenetic experiments in awake mice. The project also involves brain dissections, histology, and confocal microscopy; and working closely with postdocs and graduate students.

As skills are developed, the position will involve increasing participation in scientific research.  

This position would be ideal for self-motivated individual who is interested in working in the cutting-edge field of mouse neuronal network dynamics related to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, engineering, or related field; at least two years of experience working in a research laboratory environment; and experience with animal handling and histology, particularly in rodents. Seek a self-motivated, highly organized person who is comfortable working independently and can function effectively in a team-oriented environment.  PREFERRED: experience with rodent in-vivo electrophysiology, photometry, and optogenetic and surgery procedures; and experience with programming and molecular biology techniques (e.g., ELISA).  Job #23874
