Position Summary 
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of Operations and Advancement 
Services with a dotted line to the Vice President for Development and University 
Relations, the Executive Director of Advancement Talent and Special Advisor to 
the Vice President is responsible for the strategic implementation of 
Advancement’s mission and guiding principles on talent management. 
 
This position is a key contributor to enabling DAUR’s organizational performance 
and effectiveness and collaborates with the Senior Management Team to develop 
and implement programs and practices that drive a culture of accountability, 
excellence, continuous professional development, and improvement. This 
position also ensures a positive work environment by championing organizational 
core values. In addition, this position provides executive, strategic leadership and 
guidance to the Advancement Services and Advancement Technologies and 
Business Analytics Teams. 
 
This position is responsible for the direct management and coordination of an 
advancement talent specialist and two executive directors.  
 
Essential Functions 
Talent Management (50%) 
∙  Leads the development and implementation of new or enhancement to 
   existing talent management programs: employee onboarding program, 
   quarterly and all-day staff retreats, managers’ forums, and other programs; 
   establishes the talent strategy and talent goals for 
∙  DAUR, in alignment with business objectives. 
∙  In collaboration with the Senior Executive Director of Operations and 
   Advancement Services, conducts employee job satisfaction surveys; 
   considers new ways to boost employee retention with rewards and 
   recognition; cultivates an environment that values diversity, equity, and 
   inclusion; and promotes teamwork and mutual collaboration. 
∙  Communicates talent management policies and new initiatives, including 
   ensuring that the promotion and title change guidelines are widely 
   understood. 
∙  Maintains and updates the DAUR website. 
∙  Assesses the organization’s professional development needs across all 
   levels, along with leadership; determines and prioritizes mission-critical 
   skills and competencies. 
∙  Empowers DAUR staff to self-navigate their own successful career 
   journeys through a combination of on-the-job opportunities, relationships 
   with internal mentors at all levels, and through on-demand and curated 
   digital learning offerings; creates a system to track and aggregate 
   employee training and shares data on learning participation with 
   leadership. 
∙  Conducts the talent review process; advances a consistent process for 
   succession planning, including identifying successors for critical roles and 
   collaborating with managers to build customized development plans. 
∙  Enhances performance management for personal and professional 
   growth. 
∙  Delivers presentations and training as needed.
 
Business Analytics (50%) 
∙  Oversees the development and implementation of a proactive strategy to 
   ensure that: DAUR maintains robust internal controls relating to the 
   systems; donor demographic, giving, and contact information (including 
   management of email unsubscribes) is complete and accurate; DAUR’s 
   reporting and business intelligence needs are met; and that gifts are 
   received, processed, recorded and transmitted to the appropriate financial 
   accounts accurately and in a timely fashion. 
∙  Coordinates oversight and monitoring of DAUR systems to ensure security 
   and system uptime, maintaining positive relationship with IT consulting 
   team; manages staff charged with training and end user support; ensures 
   the continuous growth and enhancements of data reports for donors and 
   DAUR. 
∙  Maintains a productive partnership with the Controller’s Office to ensure 
   compliance with internal and external audit procedures and protocols.

Management Responsibilities 
Provides strategic leadership and supervises others who supervise. Responsible 
for hiring, training, developing, managing performance, administering corrective 
action, makes compensation decisions and for managing strategic views at a 
high level. 
 
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience 
∙  Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, liberal 
   arts or related field. 
∙  Minimum of seven years’ experience supporting organization-wide talent  
   management and business analytics programs in higher education. 
 
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills 
∙  Familiarity with CRM systems and practices. 
∙  Strategic thinking capabilities, creativity, sound judgment; the ability to 
   design/implement new processes. 
∙  Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to 
   simultaneously manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
∙  Strong analytical skills necessary to interpret financial information and 
   manage data. 
∙  Exceptional interpersonal skills: successful mentorship of people with the 
   ability to impact, influence, and drive action and accountability. 
∙  Excellent communication skills. 
∙  Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external constituencies, 
   including peers and superiors. 
∙  Interest in fundraising, higher education, and Jesuit/Catholic mission. 
∙  Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to
   the goals of Jesuit Education. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
Minimum of seven years’ experience supporting organization-wide talent 
management and business analytics programs in higher education, 
preferably in a large and complex advancement operation. 
 
Minimum Starting Salary: $150,000 
 
Maximum Starting Salary: $175,000 
 
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
