Job Description and Duties

Under close supervision of the Correctional Business Manager or the Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent will perform a variety of clerical duties, providing administrative support and excellent customer service to a wide variety of people in a team environment. The incumbent uses a computer and related word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications to perform various tasks.

Working Conditions

Position is located at Richard J. Donovan Cor. Facility 480 Alta Road San Diego CA 92179.

This position works a maximum of 125 hours per month or 1500 hours per year.

Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position. Must be regularly available and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the business needs.

Mechanical and Technical Occupational Trainee is a non-testing temporary appointment class. It is designed to provide persons an opportunity to develop skill which will facilitate their permanent entry into State service.

Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility (RJDCF) is a multi-mission institution: RJDCF's primary mission is to provide housing for General Population and SNY, Level I, II, III & IV inmates serving their term of incarceration at RJDCF. Additionally, we provide health care services and rehabilitative programs to inmates while incarcerated at RJDCF. RJDCF is a designated institution for inmates with severe mental illness, inmates with developmental disabilities and is responsible for providing officer coverage for inmates being treated in community hospitals throughout San Diego County. Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

  • Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving state public assistance under the CalWorks program.
  • Applicants who receive state public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWorks recipient in the comments area on the application.
  • Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWorks showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWorks Program.)
