DESCRIPTION

Uses professional concepts to apply organization policies and procedures to oversee a variety of ongoing administrative operational issues. Administers defined operational program. Analyzes and resolves operational problems of moderate scope.

This position encompasses a range of responsibilities:

Operations includes Logistics/Transportation: Maintaining and organizing vehicles for departmental transportation of people, animals, and equipment. The role involves operational support for moving animals, equipment, and supplies, monitoring equipment movement, participating in logistics planning for the Central Research Services Facility (CRSF), and providing data for logistical operations optimization. The specialist also serves as a liaison in complex logistic and transportation planning and interacts with various ACP groups.

Veterinary Services: This involves participation in the delivery of support tasks for research technical services. Key activities include monitoring resource scheduler for time conflict issues, dosing irradiation (both gamma and X-ray sources), performing various imaging techniques, and assisting in veterinary procedures. The role also includes periodic maintenance of equipment and related supplies.

Administration: The specialist engages in the organization and surveillance of ACP administrative areas. Responsibilities include facilitating necessary structural repairs, maintaining community shared spaces, managing consumable supplies, and overseeing the use of vehicles and service yard space. Additionally, the role involves the digitization and systematic organization of departmental records and documents.

Maintenance: The AOC Specialist assures operational continuity, addressing hardware and software issues in collaboration with the IT administrator, and assists in training backup personnel. The role encompasses coordinating daily inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs of research support equipment, facilities, and vehicles. The specialist is also responsible for maintaining equipment maintenance contracts and inventories, and overseeing the use and maintenance of vehicles.

Finance: Responsibilities in this area include gathering data for workload reports, initiating analytical studies related to work volume, service safety, and equipment needs. The role involves monitoring expenditures for AOC operations, providing data for fiscal analysis, and incorporating AOC operations into the ACP budgetary process, including cost accounting in alignment with annual budgetary goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.

  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in using resource scheduling tools to avoid conflict

  • Competence in organizing and maintaining administrative areas, digitizing and systematically organizing departmental records.

  • Skill in organizing and maintaining vehicles, supporting operational transport needs, and participating in logistics planning.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,580 - $98,282 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.45 - $47.07

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
