Essential Job Duties
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining, repairing, installing plumbing systems and associated equipment/fixtures;
- Construction installation, maintenance and repair of secondary electrical systems, equipment and fixtures;
- Thorough depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DDC type of controls.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot/repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, expansion joints, strainers, pressure reducing stations; piping insulation air compressors, water softeners and other equipment for generating/controlling steam which requires pipe fitting and other skills.
Other Responsibilities
- Must participate in quarterly on-call program, carrying a pager for one week at a time. This occurs every ten to fourteen weeks.
- Must be able to work overtime and/or alternate shifts when necessary for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate through work a depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DDC type of controls.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot/repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, expansion joints, strainers, pressure reducing stations; piping insulation air compressors, water softeners and other equipment for generating/controlling steam which requires pipe fitting and other skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the trades areas of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC in a university setting.
Required License or Certification
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Valid NCDL within 60 days of hire, must be maintained.
Valid NC Driver's License required
