Summary of Position

Located at UNH Durham campus, act as lead programmer/engineer, providing audiovisual/environmental automation programming for USNH spaces (classrooms, conference rooms, huddle spaces, etc). Provide training, mentorship, direct supervision of LST Engineer I position. Provide Tier III support for 300+ LST managed audiovisual systems across 500+ classroom/conference room/lab spaces in UNH Durham, Manchester, and Law. Provide remote Tier III support for greater USNH’s 250+ classroom/conference room/lab spaces across Keene State College, and Plymouth State University, with <10% travel required to remote locations. Maintain record keeping pertaining to programming, including versioning/bug logs, etc. Create system designs, block diagrams, signal flow, etc. for both internal and external use. Work directly with external and internal partners, including Facilities project managers, audiovisual contractors, audiovisual consultants, and USNH clients, attending meetings, maintaining communications, and providing deliverables to ensure audiovisual projects are successful.

Under general supervision of Technical Services Manager, explore, develop/design, propose and execute network-based software and hardware LST solutions, utilizing professional expertise in UI/UX, visual and text-based software applications, a wide variety of audiovisual hardware, and multiple private subnets. Ensure that the security and general infrastructure that comprise LST systems meets or exceeds LST, ET&S, and industry standards. Assist in the training and instruction of LST systems end-users, both faculty and staff. Train internal LST staff on current and emerging technologies. Prepare related LST documentation. Assist in the maintenance of databases related to LST systems and networked system components. Assist in analysis of LST system utilization, design, and long-term technology planning.

Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field) and four years of experience in programming audiovisual systems, Associate’s
and six years, or combination of education and experience equal to eight years.

Ability to work as part of a team
Self starter

Experience designing, programming, implementing and maintaining audiovisual control systems in classroom and conference room environments (preferably Crestron)

Proficient in proprietary visual-based audiovisual programming (preferably SIMPL) and OOP languages (preferably C#)

Proficient in HTML5, Javascript, CSS, and building single-page client applications (preferably Angular)

Proficient with the use of personal computers (MS OFFICE suite) to gather, analyze, summarize and communicate data.

Effective oral and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or CTS-D

Crestron Certified Programmer
Crestron DMC-E
Q-Sys 201 or Biamp Tesira Forte

Dante III or other audiovisual networking certification

Advanced working knowledge of networking, networking topologies and protocols

Duty/Responsibility

Supervise, train, mentor LST Engineer I position.
Create/maintain applications for LST systems that allow for easy, intuitive control of a variety of media sources, environmental controls, scheduling, historical tracking, notifications/alerts, remote control, etc. using a wide skillset including Crestron proprietary software, C#, HTML5, GitHub, Adobe Illustrator

Create/Maintain applications for LTS systems that are mass deployable and easy to configure

Create/Maintain responsive UIs across a spectrum of devices including proprietary Crestron touch screens, laptops, tablets, phones, etc.

Develop comprehensive application testing procedures

Assist in updating application development policies to ensure that all future applications meet the latest technical requirements

Duty/Responsibility

Create and maintain system documentation (block diagrams, signal flow, rack and conduit riser elevations, floor plans, UI, etc.) for internal and external use (especially bid preparations)

Ensure quality assurance for projects, installs/upgrades

Lead/assist in management of projects as designated

Lead/assist in the design and development of new/existing LST systems

Duty/Responsibility

Tier III ITSM Incident Resolution (currently Team Dynamix), providing detailed case notes per incident

Customer-facing ticket/email/phone/face-to-face response/communication

Ensure LST systems are working within LST and ET&S defined parameters

Direct student staff as necessary

Assist in training and instruction of LST systems to faculty and staff as necessary

Assist in end of day transfer to Evening Audiovisual Technician (communicate current conditions, current actions, expected actions, means to follow up)

Duty/Responsibility

Configure and maintain networked LST devices on LST networks (router/switch configuration, device firmware, etc.) as necessary

Ensure networked LST devices meet/exceed LST and ET&S security policies

Program, configure, test DSPs (Biamp, Crestron, Shure, Q-Sys) to meet/exceed LTS standards

Assist in maintenance, repair/replace, upgrade, LST networked systems and infrastructure (audiovisual, video conferencing, control/automation, etc.) hardware (Crestron & Extron processors and digital video switchers (including networked video, NVX, wireless, etc.), commercial displays and projectors, digital signage, PTZ, wide shot, and document cameras, analog/digital audio systems (DSPs, microphones, Dante, etc.) lighting controllers, ethernet switches/routers, media sources (PC, Mac, Bluray, etc.)

Assist in maintenance of static DHCP reservation database (currently InfoBlox), networked audio device database (currently Dante Domain Manager), ethernet switch management server (currently Ubiquiti UNMS/Netgear Engage), and any LST networked systems as directed

Duty/Responsibility

Travel to remote USNH locations (KSC, PSU, UNH Manchester and UNH Law) as necessary for support and project related work

Keep current with emerging technologies as they pertain to LST

Obtain quotes and order equipment/expendables as necessary

Obtain RMAs and ship/receive equipment as necessary
