Summary of Position

Keene State College’s Athletic Department invites applications for a NCAA Division III Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This is a benefited, 85% position, full-time during the appointment dates from early August to early June each year.

In line with Keene State College Athletics mission, the Men’s Basketball program strives to achieve national excellence. Our student athletes endeavor to excel academically, while valuing and enhancing leadership, diversity, sportsmanship, integrity with a sense of pride and tradition in the college and surrounding community.

The Head Coach will have direct responsibility for all facets of the men’s basketball program, including conditioning, practice sessions, games, budget management, recruiting, equipment requisition, and public relations.

Bachelor’s degree and three years experience in college coaching/athletics.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Head coaching experience; proven experience leading and developing championship teams; experience working or leading camps and clinics. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to campus.

Salary Information

Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. The position is part of the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA).

Duty/Responsibility

Organize, develop, and administer all aspects of an NCAA Division Ill sports team.

  • Recruitment and retention of student/athletes-the ability to effectively evaluate athletic talent through on-site home visits and video. Effectively evaluate academic talent to help ensure academic collegiate success. Monitor academic progress of matriculated student athletes and assist with accessing necessary support resources of all student athletes.
  • Coordinate and conduct all practice and game preparation including training and conditioning program for student athletes, scout opponents, and travel extensively with team.
  • Budget preparation, scheduling, travel arrangements, requisitioning equipment, fund raising, community service/promoting the program on and off campus and complying with all NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Hiring and supervising assistant coaches and other adjunct staff members, as necessary.

Duty/Responsibility

Provide support with departmental administrative duties; duties within department based upon employee skill set and may change depending on the department needs.
