Summary of Position

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Provost of Enrollment and Director of Admissions, the Director of Admissions, Enrollment Communications manages the core strategic, operational and administrative admissions responsibilities of all engagement and communications. This person provides leadership for all communications initiatives that originate from the Admissions Office and coordinates with other institutional offices involved with communications. This person independently manages the undergraduate admissions communications and engagement efforts including, but not limited to, admissions website and social media presence, print and digital content, electronic communication, and the utilization and maximization of current and new CRM platforms and technologies.

The Director oversees the direct management of CRM strategies, creating and implementing a multi-faceted plan that integrates technology, programmatic strategies, tactics and resources to optimize the student journey through the admissions funnel. The Director must collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners, be an advocate for admissions office policies and practices, and create sustainable and innovative recruitment and relationship-building programs. This individual also provides guidance for creating a strategy to align the student journey between UNH’s two campuses – Durham and Manchester.

The Director supervises the Student Engagement Teams and provides ongoing guidance to staff members related to their responsibilities, projects and tasks in order to successfully advance and achieve enrollment goals and deadlines. This individual is also responsible for the hiring, training and direct supervision of the Student Engagement Teams.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent personal computer skills required.
  • Exceptional ability to utilize data from a variety of sources in decision making and planning.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Some evening and weekend work required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • This position is open to a hybrid, flexibility, and remote work schedule for the right candidate.
  • Experience with CRM Slate Techsolutions portal development.
  • Experience with website performance, SEO and digital engagement.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in communications or related field. Strategic planning and management experience in higher education.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide leadership and direction for the implementation of engagement strategies and tactics for the successful recruitment of undergraduate students including:
    • Print communications
    • Electronic communications, e.g. email, web, social media
    • Third party electronic communications and marketing
  • Full utilization of CRM tool (reporting, training, full integration into admissions strategy within the defined parameters established for CRM’s use.
  • Ensure that all communications align with and support recruitment and admissions goals and plans.
  • Responsible for editorial direction and production of all undergraduate admissions materials across all platforms (email, web-based, and print marketing, etc.) from idea, creation and implementation
  • Lead and coordinate efforts with the staff responsible for the CRM tool, electronic recruitment options and communications to maximize results. Develop data segmented email campaigns, targeted marketing strategies, and track effectiveness by constantly testing various marketing initiatives for possible future campaign improvements. Implement and manage any new/emerging technologies.
  • In collaboration with the appropriate admissions staff members, develop, execute and track success of the campus’s communication and engagement plans through all stages of the admissions cycle from search through enrollment.
  • Establish benchmarks to assess the performance of communications and engagement efforts and monitor the success of campaigns including web and social media initiatives at both the Durham campus and our Manchester college division.
  • Lead the development, tracking and measurement of engagement efforts to gauge on-going initiatives to inform future planning.
  • Inquiry and prospect data management
  • Query and report generation related to campaign performance, emails, SMS and student engagement activity
  • Decision letter messaging and template creation
  • Masters of query best practices for Durham, Manchester and both campuses
  • Document communication plans, strategy and internal user guidelines for student engagement team, key partners and admission staff

Duty/Responsibility

Relationship Building and Collaboration
  • Maintain positive relationships with key campus partners including Marketing, the colleges and third party vendors who support student engagement.
  • Service as primary liaison for all third party student engagement vendors
  • Serve as a member of the Admissions Office management group and collaborate well with other managers to implement the strategic enrollment plan and meet enrollment targets.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to support transactional communications and all portal experiences (event, applicant and admitted student portal).
  • As the Admission marketing liaison, provide prompt feedback on all print, email, social and web enrollment marketing efforts.
  • Stay abreast of enrollment marketing trends in higher education, and offer feedback, guidance to UNH enrollment marketing team to support recruitment.
  • Provide mailing lists to Marketing.

Duty/Responsibility

Supervision
  • Supervise a team of two full time benefited positions.
  • Offer support and leadership to enhance operational efficiency across admissions and marketing. Manage daily production activities including:
  • Oversee and manage daily production activities within the student engagement team, including, but not limited to, email campaign preparation, launching, testing, SMS campaigns, transactional communication (decision letters, scholarship awards) etc.
