Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is recruiting for two separate Specialist I positions one in the Rising Scholars Program and the other in the Basic Needs Center for Student Parent Engagement. If you a preference for either area, please indicate in your cover letter.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
After review, suitable applicants will be invited by phone or email on or around Thursday, April 11, 2024 to participate in a skills assessment. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by a committee of approximately 3-5 individuals; these interviews are tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process.

COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $46,986 to $51,879 annually, dependent on education and experience. There is potential to reach $60,160 annually, through step advancement plus longevity when appropriate. In addition to base salary, this position qualifies for extra bilingual (Spanish), masters or doctorate pay. This position may qualify for the telecommute pilot program, which allows employees the opportunity to telecommute for up to 20% of the work week.

Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. Several plan options maintain a zero monthly premium cost from the employee and include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan that, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 27% of an eligible employee’s salary and contributes it into a CalPERS pension account for qualifying employees.

Work-Life Balance: These positions are 40 hours per week and 12 months per year, including summer and winter hours. Hours are expected to be Monday-Friday, generally within the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, hours may vary according to the needs of the program. These positions are eligible for overtime compensation (non-exempt).

LTCC provides a generous leave package including 17 paid holidays per year plus 12 days vacation (with the potential to reach 24 days through years of service) and 12 days sick leave per year.

Rising Scholars Program (RSP) Specialist Position:
The RSP team seeks a dedicated, coachable professional and team player willing to learn while putting students first. Students in the RSP can earn their General Education and Golden Four requirements leading to an Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) in Sociology – in some locations Career & Technical Education certifications. This is an innovative program fostering quality access to education for currently and formerly incarcerated/detained students while emerging as a pillar within the LTCC community.

Students are intelligent and eager to learn – as a result the RSP team is looking for similar qualities in a new team member. Applicants must have the ability to learn quickly, retain information, and maintain a positive collaborative attitude. This position will serve a diverse student population while actively embracing anti-racist practices and be willing to actively dismantle mass incarceration through educational access.

Some travel is required to levels 1-4 satellite locations. Candidates effected by the criminal justice system are encouraged to apply.

Create, monitor and maintain systems to facilitate the administration of the Rising Scholars Program education goals; create databases for program management and marketing; provide technical support and assistance for the RSP, including outside agencies and adjunct instructors, monitor quarterly schedule offerings with instructors and the schedule production process.

Create and monitor contracts; prepare board of trustee agenda items; assist with registration and tracking of students; assist with RSP budget development and track budget and program expenditures; prepare purchase requisitions and conference/travel forms as needed.
Gather, compile and collate statistical information and other data; prepare reports; organize, establish and maintain record keeping systems for correspondence, documents, materials and records; record and log incoming information and follow up on missing or incomplete information.
Ability to gain and maintain California Department of Corrections gate clearance. Frequent visits to prison ranging from levels 1-4.

Student Parent Engagement Specialist Position:
Under the direction of the Director of Equity and Student Wellness and officially located in the Basic Needs Center, the Student Parent Engagement Specialist will provide outreach to student parents by means of childcare support through grant-funded vouchers. Provide case management services to link student parents to campus and community-based services to include child care services at the Child Development Center, programs housed in the Early Learning Center, and other LTCC youth programs. This position will also work closely with the Director of Early Learning Programs as well as the EOPS/CARE/NextUp, CalWORKs, Equity counselor.

Participate as a team member in the Equity and Student Wellness Center, providing basic needs support to LTCC students with an emphasis on student parents.

Create and implement systems and processes to identify, track, and monitor student parents in accessing childcare and other related services. Provide case management to student parents to support their educational success and access to services on campus, such as financial aid, county and community services. Conduct ongoing surveys of student parents to better support them in accessing childcare, basic needs, and other College resources. Establish and implement a process to provide childcare vouchers to students.

Regularly liaise with Child Development Center leadership, Equity leadership, and counseling to support student parents seeking childcare and other services in order to connect them with options on campus and in the community. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of funding opportunities for student parents in accessing childcare and other services including the CCAMPIS grant, CCRT, CSPP, CalWORKs, CARE, EOPS, County Health and Human Services and other funding and support options.

Provide outreach to student parents in the community, including at county health and welfare offices, local nonprofit agencies, K-12 schools, among other locations and events, to support their access and enrollment at LTCC. Maintain and regularly update a webpage on student parent services and create and facilitate meetings of a Student Parent Advisory Committee. Research and build relationships with childcare providers throughout the basin. Assist in researching and developing reports and presentations related to services for student parents at LTCC and the CCAMPIS Grant.

A Specialist is trained or highly skilled in a particular subject(s). This is the entry-level class in the Specialist series under general supervision of a director or administrator within a department or division. Position performs a full range of duties under general supervision which involves specialized assignments. Position works independently, exercising initiative within general guidelines in performing the full range of duties assigned. Impact on students, financial, physical, or personnel resources is generally department or division wide with possible external connections.

Representative Duties:
Perform a variety of specialized duties in the development, planning and implementation of designated Program functions and services in support of day-to-day operations including the coordination of program component functions; assist in establishing program time lines, goals and objectives; assure compliance with established standards, guidelines, requirements, policies and procedures of an assigned program.

Plan, organize and perform a variety of administrative program support duties; input student, program and a variety of other data into an assigned computer system; establish and maintain various automated records and files; prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, memorandum, and other written documents for an assigned program; review and edit materials for accuracy; assist with special projects related to designated programs as assigned.

Serve as an area expert for program participants, students and others concerning assigned services and functions; interpret, apply and explain program services, policies and procedures to students, staff, other schools and outside agencies; respond to inquiries and provide detailed information and feedback concerning related programs; provide assistance in response to changing Program needs.

Compile, assemble, duplicate, maintain and disseminate a variety of informational materials related to assigned programs, services and functions; accept, process and evaluate a variety of program applications, forms and documents.

Prepare and deliver oral presentations concerning assigned program services and related functions as assigned.

Research, gather, compile and collate statistical information and other data as directed.

Maintain current knowledge of program and organizational laws, rules, regulations and policies.

Communicate with staff, other departments and outside agencies to exchange information, resolve issues and coordinate activities.

Train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff and student aides as required.
