Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is searching for an innovative, strategic thinker and resource builder who possesses the necessary leadership background and political savvy to become the President of the Penn Valley Campus at Metropolitan Community College.
 
In collaboration with the Chancellor, the new President will have the opportunity to lead a fresh and eager staff toward positive change, championing initiatives that build the student experience and institutional advancement, as well as community relations and workforce training collaborations. As President, the incumbent provides leadership for the MCC-Penn Valley team. Student success is a primary focus and responsibility of the district, and the President will lead this effort on the Penn Valley Campus, as well as nurture internal and external relationships, fundraising, and public and private partnerships within the Penn Valley service area. The campus president is expected to become an integral part of the community, interacting proactively with key stakeholders, and playing a major role in securing capital funding for the campus.
 

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) operates as one college with five campuses and other educational sites, under the leadership of Chancellor Kimberly Beatty, now serving in her seventh year at the College. Founded in 1915, MCC is the oldest and largest public institution of higher learning in Kansas City, Missouri, serving approximately 30,000 students annually. From its early days and humble beginnings, MCC has consistently focused on positive change and growth to provide students and the community growth through education. Metropolitan Community College is dedicated to serving the educational needs of the community by providing a low-cost, high-quality education intended to help students understand themselves as well as the society in which they live in. Over 120 degree and certificate programs are offered and are intended to encourage lifelong learning. MCC has been accredited as a single entity by the Higher Learning Commission since 1986, and the College’s next reaffirmation of accreditation is in 2025-2026. MCC-Penn Valley serves the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and distinguishes itself as a premier educational institution known for its innovation, comprehensive programs, and commitment to community engagement and workforce development.
 

Reporting to the Chancellor, the President of MCC-Penn Valley will foster strong, symbiotic relationships with greater Kansas City. The President is also an integral part of the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet and leadership team.
 
It will be essential for the President to support and advance MCC’s matrix organizational design and foster an atmosphere of trust and teamwork. The President will need to understand and lead the nuances of culture and change when assisting in guiding the faculty, staff and students toward sustainable and inspirational goals. The President must create balance between campus advocacy and greater goals of the district.
