Position Description
DEFINITION:
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Program Director, Associate in Engineering (AE).
- May occasionally receive general supervision from full-time instructional staff
- Exercises no right supervision
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENT:
- Prepare Associate in Engineering (AE) courses to include:
- developing learner centered lesson plans
- employing teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles
- incorporating, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning and laboratory environments
- creating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
- preparing, distributing and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate
- participating in the development and review of course and program/general education outcomes as appropriate
- developing, conducting and documenting appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate.
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
- Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to: class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines
Other Important Functions:
- Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
- Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
- Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
- Participate in college-wide activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
- Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
- Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration
Ability To:
- Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
- Making observations
- Reading and writing
- Communicating with others
- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which include the following:
- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Minimum Education/Training:
- Master’s degree in Engineering with 18 graduate semester hours in a calculus-based engineering related coursework.
Minimum Experience:
- Post-secondary teaching experience in introductory Engineering courses (e.g., statics, mechanics, computer applications) and/or experience in providing industry-based training/education on introductory engineering content.
- Experience with engineering computing applications (e.g., C or C++, MATLAB, SolidWorks)
- Community college teaching experience
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience with designing and implementing laboratory activities.
- Experience in developing and fostering inter-institutional partnerships
- Experience with student recruitment.
