Position Summary 
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform research tasks related to the 
NSF-funded project “Genomic basis of ecosystem adaptation in rice,” in 
collaboration with Michael Purugganan at New York University (NYU) and Amelia 
Henry at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). This work will include 
population and evolutionary genomic analyses of local varieties of rice grown 
experimentally under different conditions. The Postdoctoral Research Associate 
will also conduct research projects on related topics.

∙  Helps write and prepare manuscripts for publication. 
∙  Helps manage the operation of the lab and maintains a safe and 
   productive environment. 
∙  Conducts research as part of a collaborative team. 
∙  Helps guide and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience 
∙  Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, genetics or a related field, and knowledge of 
   all of these subject areas, particularly evolutionary ecology 
 
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills 
∙  Skills in genomic and bioinformatics analysis, biological statistics, and 
   ability to use programs such as R and Python 
∙  Excellent communication skills 
∙  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact successfully with students 
   and collaborators 
∙  Good problem solving abilities 
∙  Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to 
   the goals of Jesuit Education.
 
Minimum Starting Salary: $64,000 
 
Maximum Starting Salary: $65,000 
 
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
