Job Function

Responsible for the administration and maintenance of college-wide assessment practices required to maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) compliance. Manages all documentation of the college’s assessment activities, and reports results regularly to faculty and administrative audiences. Provides support for faculty to help increase student success by coordinating assessment activities and providing “best practices” professional development workshops on student success, retention, and engagement strategies. Aligns assessment activities to the college’s strategic mission, HLC guidelines, and the mission and initiatives of the college.

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for oversight of assessment of student learning to ensure compliance with institutional and program accreditations.
  • Maintain currency in assessment best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for development and/or implementation of institutional assessment processes.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of course, program, and co-curricular assessment.
  • Cultivates continuous improvement of program and course learning outcomes and campus climate to support academic initiatives that advance student success and the Strategic Plan.
  • Recommend procedures, actions, and strategies based on assessment data analysis.
  • Promote the importance and recognized benefits of assessment.
  • Develop/initiate cross-collaborative assessment processes.
  • Facilitates professional development workshops that provide faculty with strategies to increase student engagement, retention, and active learning.
  • Assists faculty with teaching and learning strategies to support first-generation students and returning adult students.
  • Supports faculty in utilizing assessment results to make and track curriculum changes to meet the needs of a diverse student population and HLC compliance requirements.
  • Executes components of assessment, including collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data in collaboration with departments across the college.
  • Supports all academic departments for program review and outside accreditation activities.
  • Consults with faculty to assist with curriculum mapping, developing course and program student learning outcomes, and corresponding rubrics.
  • Contributes to reports on professional development, curriculum design and assessment projects for internal documentation and for dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Use appropriate technologies to track, gather, analyze, and report on collected data for various initiatives.
  • Maintains Assessment Resource Center. Upload all submitted action plans and maintains course, program, and institutional common Degree Outcome (CDO) assessment documents to ensure they are up to date and relevant.
  • Responsible for Common Degree Outcomes assessment process including supporting faculty whose sections have been selected to be assessed.
  • Assists with assessment and curriculum data gathering, analysis, tracking, and reporting for internal and external audiences, including the HLC.
  • Maintains relevant professional development, assessment, and curriculum resources such as the course and program assessment workbooks, Official Course Syllabus Review Guide, Focus on Assessment webpages, and the Assessment Resource Center.
  • Serves on the Assessment Committee and provides support for annual initiatives as well as supporting the implementation of the new Institutional Assessment Plan.
  • Serves on committees as assigned
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Curriculum, Assessment, Education or a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

Three years of experience related to the position, including direct faculty support for assessment activities and curriculum development.
