Reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer, this position spans across the cGMP manufacturing network as a key member of the TechOps leadership team, partnering with site VPGM's, Quality, Commercial and other Resilience teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of our life-enhancing therapies to our patients. Directly managing a small team and with broad network-wide remit, this leader will build strong partnerships throughout the organization to brings discipline and executional rigor in key areas including overall LCM/tech transfer; S&OP oversight to balance supply and demand plans and drive predictable revenue growth, supplier/partner selection and oversight; and capital planning. This role is highly influential, actively participating in long-range planning processes to establish goals, objectives, and deliverables for the future of the organization, assisting in implementing overall CMC strategy and regularly educating and influencing cross-functional members of senior and executive management.

Specific accountabilities, along with other duties and responsibilities as assigned, include:

Global Tech Ops

  • Work with site Tech Ops teams to manage the overall LCM/tech transfer of processes and methods into internal sites and external partners domestically and internationally.
  • Improve process robustness through the product lifecycle for all product families within the commercial portfolio.
  • Overseeing the development, transfer, and qualification for drug products for use in GMP clinical development and manufacturing. Partner with and support the PAD teams as needed for drug substance development, transfer and qualification.
  • Drive best practices in validation, technology transfer, integration of new technologies and resolution of technical issues during GMP manufacturing. Support sites in identifying and resolving critical issues.
  • Assist with selection, contract negotiations and budgeting for service providers such as contract research organizations.
  • Inspect project plans, timelines and execution to ensure all projects are appropriately prioritized and key objectives are met on time.
  • Serve as a thought partner with Regulatory, CMC, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Process Engineering colleagues. Collaborate with and influence other Technical Operations Leaders in establishing strategy and defining enabling objectives.
  • Ensure overall operational budget is within the approved budget and timeline.

Global Capital Projects

  • Lead review, and evaluation of strategic capital initiatives to support the company strategy and present options/scenarios/recommendations for review/approval by senior management.
  • Ensure successful delivery of global capital projects, including oversight of plans, designs and estimates, time, cost, and vendor selections, and provides regular useful reporting to senior leadership.

S&OP

  • Oversee S&OP at a strategic level to drive balance between demand and supply plans and predictable revenue growth, inspecting performance reports and accounting for internal and external factors that can impact the teams' ability to meet their targets.
  • Support and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with business strategies.
  • Ensure coordination and synchronization across various functions such as operations, finance, commercial, etc.to maintain focus, alignment, and consistency. Lead candid and constructive discussions about issues and challenges to align with strategy and corporate performance.
  • Examine proposals and investments related to potential customers and vendors.
  • Partner with and provide effective and clear presentations and dashboards providing transparency into annual operating plan progress and KPIs to enable executive leadership in gaining insights and making informed decisions.

Minimum Required Competencies and Experience

  • Deep leadership experience in multi-site and multi-country manufacturing planning and operations, evidencing successful cost and ROI management by linking critical business, commercial, manufacturing and supply chain systems and processes along with creatively leveraging internal talent and resources in conjunction with building out capabilities via external suppliers and partners.
  • Advanced supply chain knowledge with demonstrated experience building, standing up, scaling, and maturing end-to-end processes.
  • Ability to skillfully leverage deep technical knowledge to lead in matrixed environment across drug product, drug substance and chemical services in a collaborative manner to achieve collective goals.
  • Exceptional EQ+IQ, including change management capabilities, with demonstrated ability to influence amidst ambiguity, negotiate to resolve challenges, and balance the desire/need for change with understanding of capacity for change to lead realistic large-scale change plans across diverse stakeholders and celebrates and supports the success of others.
  • High business acumen, deploying an analytical and data driven mindset and leveraging data from a variety of sources to manage complex activities, identify risks, derive solutions, make decisions, and align others with strategy.
  • Deep problem-solving capabilities with proven results in implementing improvements.
  • Ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance, tenacious and accountable in driving results.
  • The ability to create and articulate an inspiring vision for both the enterprise and to create a sense of purpose/meaning for the team that generates followership and engages others to the greater purpose for the organization.

Preferred Competencies and Experience

  • PhD in Chemistry or related field preferred
  • Prior experience identifying and executing on collaborative opportunities with international partners, contract research organizations and other manufacturing firms globally to design cost-effective, flexible production and supply chain capabilities to adapt to evolving market conditions and business requirements. Direct experience in Asia, Middle East and/or India strongly preferred.

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $260,000.00 - $342,500.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
