As a Maintenance UniversityInstructor,you will:

  • Performs training, develop curriculum, and provide instructions to raise awareness and knowledge level critical to maintenance management or execution for support of material condition readiness of U.S. Navy surface ships of COMNAVSURFPAC and COMNAVSURFLANT.

A week in the life of a Maintenance UniversityInstructor:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to US Navy and civilian personnel on naval maintenance. Specific duties include the following:
  • Perform training and provide briefs to raise awareness and knowledge level critical to maintenance management or execution for support of material condition readiness of US Navy surface ships of COMNAVSURFPAC.
  • Provide training in the use the maintenance assessment process, document assigned equipment conditions, ships force corrective maintenance, and track corrective maintenance assigned for accomplishment by third party activities.
  • Provide training to more junior naval personnel and civilians on naval maintenance.
  • Effectively communicate and serve as an instructor and mentor to enlisted students and officers.

Job Requirements
  • At least 20 years' experience in the United States Navy as senior enlisted and achieved the rank of E-7
  • Have served at least one tour on a United States surface ship as shipboard Leading Chief Petty Officer or3-M Coordinator.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have spent a minimum of two years at a U.S. Navy surface ship maintenance activity (Regional Maintenance Center or Naval Shipyard), ashore maintenance staff or ashore maintenance training staff.
  • Demonstrated two years' experience with shore management programs for surface ship maintenance, to include the roles of Port Engineers, Availability Work Package Managers, Type Desk Officers, and Type Desk Assistants.
  • Demonstrated two years' experience conducting technical briefs at all levels of shipboard and ashore maintenance managers.
  • Have shipboard and staff experience in enlisted leadership roles in material condition readiness in order to be credible as a subject matter expert, with relevant background to each target training audience.
  • Have experience in SKED, OMMS-NG, AWN (Automated Work Notification) and/ or other Navy Maintenance programs
  • Active Secret Clearance

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $77 - 81K. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
