Accounting Faculty, 10-Month

Class Description

CCBC is seeking an individual prepared to teach accounting courses ranging from principles of accounting to upper level accounting courses, including advanced and intermediate accounting. Fifteen credit hours of instruction per semester, office hours, college and community service, and ongoing professional development are required. The individual will utilize available college resources to best support teaching and learning. The position is on one of our campuses but may require teaching classes at other locations scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends. Course modalities may include on site, synchronous online, and asynchronous online. 
 
The candidate will prepare, teach, and evaluate courses in the academic discipline for which hired; seek continuous involvement in teaching methodology and student-centered learning; stay current in their field; develop goals and objectives in advance of each academic year; participate with other faculty in managing courses, curricula, and academic policy; and contribute to the success of the learning college and the college’s mission. 

Minimum Requirements

Education and Professional Requirements

Required active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license and earned master's degree or higher (MBA preferred) with the academic and/or professional credentials, experience, and skills needed to teach college level accounting courses within the Business Studies Department.
 
Teaching Requirements
 
Two years of full-time college level teaching experience in accounting required or the equivalent adjunct teaching experience in accounting required.
 
 

Class Specific Essential Duties

  • The position is located on one of our campuses but may require teaching classes at other locations scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends.
  • Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based instruction.
  • Meet all classes as assigned during instructional periods.
  • Communicate effectively with students by disseminating academic information including syllabi and academic policies and by responding to e-mails and phone calls from students in a timely manner.
  • Provide program-related student advising.
  • Conduct required office hours per College policy.
  • Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.
  • Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.
  • Maintain Learning Management System (e.g. Brightspace) site, providing students access to syllabi, grades and other supplemental course material.
  • Support students and other college units and comply with relevant state and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing curricular development including content update, curricular alignment, consistent assessment practices and record keeping.
  • Collaborate with staff by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College and School meetings.
  • Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.
