Overview

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated research technician  with enthusiasm in wet-lab science, who will support and lead cancer genomic research projects. The successful candidate will join the team of Dr. Bradley Bernstein working primarily with postdoctoral researchers and will assist with general lab management when needed. This role also includes collaboration opportunities with partner laboratories in the Boston area.

The technician will be trained by the lab manager, postdocs, and senior technicians. They will work closely with peers in the laboratory as a supportive member and in turn will receive training and career mentoring from Dr. Bernstein and senior lab members. There will be the opportunity to attend scientific retreats and conferences, present papers at Journal Club, and present your work at weekly lab meetings amongst others. A two-year commitment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs standard experimental procedures as assigned (i.e. – pipetting, cell and tissue culture, PCR, etc.)
  • Executes and troubleshoots genomic assays and gene editing protocols, including, single-cell RNA-seq, CRISPR-Cas9 editing and other specialized protocols.
  • Performs drug treatments and biochemical pharmacologic assays.
  • Maintains lab reagents, chemicals and sample database.
  • Sets up and prepares routine experiments as directed.
  • Conducts analysis and interpretation of observed results.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Technically meticulous when conducting experiments.
  • Highly organized in record-keeping.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior research experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in mouse work is a plus.
  • Prior experience programming in R or Python or interest in learning basic programming is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
