Administrative Assistant, Personal Robots Group

Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, PERSONAL ROBOTS GROUP, Media Lab, to provide varied and complex administrative support to Professor Cynthia Breazeal and the Personal Robots Group (PRG).  Will support--under the direction of Professor Breazeal--the work of the PRG whose focus includes technical innovation in AI and user experience design combined with understanding the psychology of engagement to design personified AI technologies that promote human flourishing and personal growth. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining effective office organization for administrative tasks by coordinating with the professor, senior research team, and other staff in the group; providing logistical support for larger events; and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of experience as an administrative assistant for senior managers; flexibility; excellent organizational and verbal and written communications skills; discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment with sensitive/confidential information; attention to accuracy and detail; and advanced-level computer skills, including proficiency with Macintosh computers and Microsoft Office.  Seek a proactive team player who is able to work effectively with a creative and diverse group of people, contribute to each group’s community, and support its values; multitask and handle a wide variety of duties, learn quickly, work with critical time demands, and adapt to changing/competing priorities; and identify tasks that need to be done that may not have been explicitly assigned and bring them to the attention of the professor.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree; interest in Personal Robots’ research; familiarity with website maintenance (HTML) and MIT and Media Lab business applications, e.g., Google Apps, SAPgui, Concur, Buy2Pay.  Job #23772-5

This is a full-time (35 hrs/wk.), one-year appointment with the possibility of extension based on funding and course of research.
