Notre Dame Learning seeks a marketing communications intern for summer 2023. The intern will work alongside the program director for communications and administration on the redesign and relaunch of the Notre Dame Learning website from mid-May to mid-August.
Notre Dame Learning houses the Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Digital Learning, bringing together their teaching and learning expertise along with that of the Office of Information Technology’s Teaching & Learning Technologies group to serve as the hub of learning excellence and innovation at the University of Notre Dame. Working in collaboration with instructors, departments, and colleges, our goal is to enable effective and engaging learning for all students through research-based strategies and effective use of technologies across all modalities.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate to gain practical experience with a seasoned communications professional not only in web strategy and content management but also in written and visual content creation for online platforms.
The responsibilities of this role are commensurate with experience and educational background. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
● Assisting the program director with the reorganization and migration of content from Notre Dame Learning’s current WordPress website to its in-development Conductor website;
● Working with the program director to troubleshoot potential stumbling blocks to the user experience (UX) on both the current and in-development websites and strategizing how to fix them
● Updating and/or creating public-facing content for both the current and in-development websites (and possibly for social media); and
● Reporting to the program director on project progress at regular intervals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree program
- Experience maintaining a website using a content management system (coding background is NOT necessary)
- Interest in organizational communications and messaging;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong editing and proofreading skills
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with WordPress and/or Notre Dame’s Conductor content management system;
● Basic familiarity with HTML and/or graphic design tools, including Canva
Special Instructions to Applicants
● Time commitment: up to 20 hours per week
● There is a preference for this to be an in-person position, but hybrid or remote work may be considered.
● Duration: This summer internship will last approximately 10-12 weeks, with a preferred start date in early summer.
