Providing instruction in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) on the Reedley College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:

Providing instruction in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) on the Reedley College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching a full schedule of AMT courses as assigned;
- Planning and developing curriculum and scheduling of AMT program;
- Assisting with maintaining AMT laboratory with appropriate equipment, tools and supplies;
- Maintaining compliance with FAA regulations as an approved AMT school;
- Assisting in job placement and work experience;
- Participating in Industrial Technology department and community activities;
- Participating in program review and curriculum development, including student learning outcomes to improve student learning;
- Assisting and advising the department chair in course scheduling;
- Serving on and attending department, division, college and district committees as needed;
- Working assignments in a variety of instructional settings and time, including evenings and/or weekends, and large group instruction classes as needed;
- Otherwise fulfilling all the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or
- Any associate degree and six years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
and
- A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mechanic certificate with the appropriate ratings as listed in the approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School Operations Specification and as prescribed in the Code of Federal Regulations. The approved listed ratings are Airframe and Powerplant; and
- For at least 6 months in the preceding 24 months, served as a mechanic under their certificate and rating; and technically supervised other mechanics; and supervised, in an executive capacity, the maintenance or alteration of aircraft.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes;
- Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities;
- Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students;
- Related work and professional experience;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students;
- Experience in teaching Airframe and Powerplant repair classes;
- Work experience in aircraft repair and maintenance;
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of classes within the FAA FAR Part 147 curriculum;
- Demonstrated ability to involve students in lab activities in college hangar;
- Demonstrated ability to operate aircraft and aircraft equipment as needed; and
- Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.

Starting annual salary is $70,302 – $105,838 based on education and experience. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. In addition, the District offers an attractive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, and life insurance. Employees are also members of the California State Teacher’s Retirement System (CalSTRS).
Selection Procedure
Applications will be screened by Human Resources for completeness and to determine which applicants meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement.
From the applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and who have submitted all the required documents by the closing date and time listed on the job announcement, a selection advisory committee will review the candidates who are best qualified based on the minimum and desirable qualifications then determine who will be invited to interview.
The selection advisory committee will rate responses to the interview questions, teaching demonstration, and writing prompt (if applicable). Based on this rating, a small number of applicants will be selected as the “recommended candidates”. These candidates will be forwarded to the Vice President and College President for final interviews.
A hiring recommendation will be made by the College President and forwarded to the Board of Trustees of State Center Community College District for final approval.
