Summary of Position

The Wellness Center at Keene State College invites applications for a Medical Assistant who serves as a critical member of the Wellness Center team by gathering and documenting information that is critical to the overall assessment plan for the patient and assisting with follow-up of any laboratory needs or appointments that may be needed. This is a year-round, 37.5 hrs./week, benefitted position.

Additional responsibilities include assisting the APRNs/MD and RNs, managing the submissions of student health information and immunization compliance, and assisting with the operation of the front desk on an as needed basis.

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Proven organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Tact and sensitivity to requirements of working with confidential data Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office systems, including Word and Excel Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Immunization Compliance.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Experience in an integrated health care setting.

Duty/Responsibility

Serve as medical assistant for the provider – duties include but are not limited to taking and recording of vital signs, performing/resulting/interpreting point of care testing, collection of necessary specimens (blood, urine) for send out testing, assisting with procedures, clean and stock treatment rooms as needed, clean and stock lab area, quality control for point of care testing, patient education as directed by Nurse Practitioner/Physician. Communication with Cheshire lab director as needed. Inventory and ordering of medical supplies. Routine communication with care staff team for coordination of care for students. Various administrative tasks; register patients for their visits, make appointments, answering phones, check voice/email mail, send/receive faxes, receive prior authorization for medications/ imaging orders. Collect and extract data from EMR as requested by Director and Chief Medical Officer.

Duty/Responsibility

Responsibilities include: maintaining confidentiality of protected health information per HIPPA laws, managing student medical information within the EMR. This can include assisting students with paperwork, uploading external provider records, retrieval of consultations notes, lab results, radiology results, and managing referrals. Assist with booking of appointments at inside and outside the clinic as indicated. Coordination of care between counseling, psychiatry, external providers and KSC staff providers. Communication with campus partners as needed. Assist with communication between EMR support staff and KSC staff, creating and modifying medical templates/forms. Working with various additional electronic records to ensure all students are successfully transferred into EMR, adding and removing student account charges and holds on accounts.

Duty/Responsibility

Vaccine compliance which includes running data reports, confirmation of appropriate incoming health records and immunizations, data entry, and regular communication with students that are not compliant with appropriate documentation. Support campus partners with planning and coordination of methods to obtain records, including international students. Participation in Admitted Student Days, Orientation and Welcome Days. Ensuring student compliance of health forms prior to moving on campus. Training and co-management of NHIP (N.H. Immunization Program) as applicable, based on the N.H. DPH guidelines.

Duty/Responsibility

Participate in staff and professional development meetings and in various college committees/activities.
Provide wellness education and promotion in clinic and on campus. Additionally, this may involve participating in responsibilities which sometimes fall outside the regular clinic operating hours.
Assist Director and Chief Medical Officer with coordination for orientation and welcome days. Assist with update social media platforms and website as needed.
Assist with front desk procedures on an as needed basis.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director and Chief Medical Officer
