Software UX/AI Interface Developer

Job Description

SOFTWARE UX/AI INTERFACE DEVELOPER, Media Lab-Personal Robots Group (PRG), to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, curriculum designers, graduate students, and technical staff across other research labs who actively collaborate at the confluence of AI, creative learning-by-making, and education. Responsibilities include developing frameworks that facilitate the creation of (AI-powered) educational applications; curating Github repositories, including adding and updating open source software libraries, debugging, documenting, and improving overall robustness of code base(s); working with graduate students, research scientists, education experts, and UX designers to develop student-facing interactive learning activities used in K-12 and college classrooms; and additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  B.Sc. degree (or equivalent degree) in computer science, engineering, or scientific discipline related to computing; experience with object-oriented programming languages (Python, Javascript, C#, Java, C++, etc.) and web-based development technologies; at least five years of relevant programming experience and at least three years in a production software position, including responsibility for deployed user-facing implementations, ideally involving AI or machine learning technologies; expertise in both front-end and back-end development; experience with at least one front-end javascript framework (React, Svelte, Vue, Angular, etc.); and comfort with the full stack of developing and deploying AI tools and services. PREFERRED:  M.S. degree (or equivalent degree) in computer science, engineering, or scientific discipline related to computing; and a background in responsible human-centered design, especially codesign and design justice frameworks.  Job #23722
