Goucher College, a nationally recognized, selective, private, coeducational liberal arts college located just outside of Baltimore, in Towson, Maryland, seeks an innovative and results-oriented human resources professional to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Human Resources (AVP). The new AVP will be a people and culture leader with a passion for creating optimal working cultures and the interconnected systems and policies that support and nurture them for employees and community members.

 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and serving as a member of the President’s cabinet, the AVP is the chief human resource officer of the College, supporting the President and senior leadership team as a trusted advisor and providing thoughtful counsel, leadership, and partnership. They will be looked upon to create and steward a comprehensive talent strategy to identify, retain, and develop a diverse employee community. They will build and lead human resources strategic and operational programs, systems, and services that are responsive to and reflect the needs, goals, objectives, and mission of the College and are in keeping with contemporary approaches to human resource management, delivering a best-in-class human resources function aligned with the evolving trends in people and workforce culture development and stewardship and the culture of the Goucher community.

 

It is within this exciting and innovative context that Goucher College seeks a seasoned human resources leader, preferably with HR leadership experience within an institution of higher education, to lead a dynamic team of HR professionals and deliver an equity- and inclusion-aligned strategy focused across the totality of the employee life cycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, position classification and compensation, training and development, employee engagement, benefits and leave administration, employee and labor relations, and legal compliance.
