Our School
Brownell Talbot College Preparatory School, founded in 1863, is a Nebraska state-approvedpreschool through grade 12 school. We are a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and are accredited by Cognia. World Language Department Philosophy
The World Language Department exemplifies many of the finest attributes that independent schools offer to students. Desired Skills & Qualifications
Spanish teacher duties and responsibilities include:

  • Willingness and desire to teach at different levels. This position primarily focuses on preschool
through middle school students.
  • Preparation and implementation of daily lessons, delivery of assignments, and timely evaluation of all relevant class work and student progress.
  • Design and implementation of appropriate, authentic assessments and support of individual student learning styles.
  • An understanding of and ability to teach using an inquiry-based approach.
  • Experience with preschool or elementary aged students preferred.
  • Timely and proactive communication with parents about student progress.
  • Willingness to serve as a grade-level advisor or class sponsor.
  • Collaboration with other members of the faculty, administration, and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary, and community-based opportunities that add to the school community.
  • Active participation in all faculty and staff meetings.
  • Effective and timely communication with varied school constituencies in person, through email, and through voicemail.
  • Support of divisional and school-wide initiatives through committee work, where appropriate.
  • Supervision and/or participation in occasional non-academic activities, including lunch, study hall, and carpool arrival and dismissal.

Required Qualifications:
  • Near-native fluency in Spanish and a bachelor's or master's degree in elementary education, general education, or Spanish language.
  • Must possess or be willing to work to acquire and maintain a State of Nebraska issued teaching certificate.

A minimum of five years teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate will also possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality.
