Job Description

Responsible for operating the Quality Management System (QMS), writing procedures and processes to support the QMS development, provide training and champion the Quality Management System, and ensuring all required company quality certifications are obtained and maintained.

Ensure compliance of the documented quality system to specified requirements (internal and external), by conducting regular quality inspections/audits to ensure products, processes and procedures adhere to company and customer standards as well as government and industry regulations, to promote and facilitate continuous improvement, and provide general support to the facility for interpretation and application of internal and external quality program standards.

  • Oversee effective implementation of the Quality Management System throughout the company, including any company certifications.
  • Maintain the Quality Manuals and Procedures and ensure contents are appropriate and analyze current and future procedural needs of the business.
  • Host external Quality System Audits.
  • Provide training on Quality issues, requirements, and business processes.
  • Assesses quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods.
  • Develops and establishes quality systems and procedures, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates and technical quality plans for proposals. Ensures that project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements and/or contract.
  • Assesses the cost of, and determines the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications by performing statistical analyses.
  • Provides input on quality to product development teams.
  • Actively work with government, industry, and customer portals to obtain the latest quality documents and report quality data & information.
  • Manage customer claims & returns, submit customer claim alerts, issue, and follow up on customer corrective action requests.
  • Identifies quality performance, trends, and corrective action by coordinating with customers and suppliers. Ensures compliance to specified quality requirements by performing in-house and supplier audits and surveys. Develops and initiates programs to improve supplier performance.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing data and making recommendations. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials. Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Participates in failure analysis and corrective action investigations.
  • Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of production.
  • Represents company by interfacing with customers, spearheading internal and external audits. Develops and coordinates corrective action procedures and plans.
  • Communicates and educates Value Stream Teams on matters requiring specialized knowledge of quality functions associated with AS9100 and AS13100.
  • Makes quality related customer and vendor visits and contacts as required.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, maintaining American Society for Quality certification, and/or participating in other professional associations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through five or more years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, AS13100 and Nadcap, Nadcap Elastomer Seals is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, PFD, Control Plans, MSA and SPC is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.
  • Knowledge and use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools, such as ERP, Minitab, etc.
  • Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is desired.

  • Effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders and top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback and self-development activities.

Physical Demands:

  • Working conditions are of a general manufacturing and office environment and is exposed to machinery and chemicals. At times the manufacturing areas are receptive to loud decibels of noise. The use of proper PPE's is always required and includes, but not limited to, eye safety glasses and hearing protection. Safety shoes are required when in the manufacturing cells.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $82,070 annually to $136,921 annually.
