JOB SUMMARY

The Interim Vice President of Student Services is the Chief Student Services Officer of the Monterey Peninsula Community College (MPCCD) and reports directly to the Superintendent/President. The Interim Vice President of Student Services (VPSS) works collaboratively with all members of the Executive Leadership Team and provides leadership, planning, policy development, budget development, and management for comprehensive Student Services programs. Those programs include, but are not limited to, General Counseling, EOPS, TRIO, Hispanic-Serving Institution, UMOJA, Undocumented Resource Center, Access Resource Center, Transfer Center, International Students, Veterans Resource Center, Admissions and Records, Student Financial Services, Early Childhood Education Lab School, Athletics, and Student Activities, and Student Health Services. In addition, the Vice President of Student Services is responsible for the development and implementation of the student code of conduct, grievance and discipline processes as well as the implementation of Student Success Initiatives including the Student Success and Support Program and Student Equity.

The Interim VPSS is dedicated to all aspects of student success and eliminating equity gaps.

Qualifications

Required

Master's degree from an accredited institution
Three or more years of progressively responsible experience that includes supervision of multiple student service programs
Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and appreciation for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees
Proven commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio- economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and student with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests Desirable
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution
Experience during the implementation of an institutional Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or student services management systems
Experience as an executive level manager (VP or higher) Desired Characteristics
The successful candidate will have leadership and management skills that assure the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the student services programs of the District. In particular, they will exhibit:

leadership and vision incorporating sound fiscal planning, knowledge of educational trends pertinent to community colleges, and data informed decision-making related to enrollment management, student retention, and student success.
commitment to participatory governance and developing collaborative relationships with a diverse campus constituency emphasizing consensus building, conflict resolution, and problem solving.
an ability to work on an executive team dedicated to the collaborative goal of integrating instruction, student and administrative services to create and maintain a supportive student learning and employee working environment.

Candidate Travel Reimbursement

Monterey Peninsula College will provide up to $1,000 travel reimbursement to eligible candidates. A candidate is eligible for travel reimbursement when they have participated in an in-person interview for first- and/or second-level interviews, and when they live 50 miles or more from the College.
