Overview

Opening in the Structural Biology Core of the Chemical Biology Program at DFCI

The Structural Biology Core of the Chemical Biology Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, directed by Sirano Dhe-Paganon, serves as a key resource aiding investigators by dissecting the molecular mechanisms of proteins implicated in cancer. In collaboration with multi-disciplinary research teams, focused on cancer-relevant proteins such as KRAS, C-MYC, and β-Catenin, the laboratory uses biochemical, biophysical and structural biology approaches to characterize important oncogenes and help develop novel chemical probes.

The laboratory seeks a highly motivated research technician to purify protein reagents and conduct experiments in protein biochemistry and structural biology. Primary responsibilities include performing recombinant protein expression and purification in bacterial and mammalian expression systems and conducting in vitro biophysical and biochemical assays and screens such as ITC and TSA that test and validate screening hits and emerging compounds.

Responsibilities may also include crystallizing proteins and determining high-resolution structures using x-ray diffraction methods. The individual will work closely with other scientists in the lab, collaborate with colleagues in the Chemical Biology Program and attend departmental seminars. Members of our team are often included as authors on relevant publications and often pursue graduate or medical school or biotech industry.

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
