Type of Assignment: Full-Time Faculty

Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges Student Accessibility Services (SAS) department (formerly DSPS) invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time 195-days-per-year, tenure-track faculty position, beginning in July 2024. Principal responsibilities include providing specialized counseling for students with disabilities and working as an integral member of a team that facilitates and delivers services to students with a variety of disabilities. The person selected will share leadership roles with other full-time faculty in the Student Accessibility Services department. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Compensation: Initial salary placement is based on education and experience and ranges from $94,661 (class I, step 1 1.1080 time factor for 195 on-duty days per year) to $158,472 (class VI-doctorate, step 10 1.1080 time factor) on the 2024-2025 Annual Salary Schedule. Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for community college counselor of students with disabilities:

1. a) A Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, or
Masters degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling ; OR

b) A Masters degree in Education, Concentration Counseling; or Education, Concentration Educational and Clinical Counseling; or Education, Concentration Educational Counseling, or
Education, Concentration School Counseling; or Education, Concentration Counseling Option; or
Education, Counseling and Guidance Concentration; or Education, Concentration in Counseling and Guidance; or Social Welfare, or Guidance and Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling
(approved comparable degrees at MiraCosta College); OR
c) A Bachelors degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling AND possession of a California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT);

AND
2. a) Fifteen (15) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically related to people with disabilities; OR

b) completion of six (6) semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary DSPS Program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities; OR

c) two (2) years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:
(i) counseling for students with disabilities; and/or
(ii) counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities, OR
the equivalent.

3. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND

4. demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
