This position will be in support of the Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE). The EACE works to advance medical and scientific knowledge through relevant research that will optimize clinical care and quality of life for Service members and Veterans with traumatic extremity injuries and amputations. We are looking for a new team member to assist with a study aimed at improving pain and function in Service members with low back pain.

HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant I or II to perform data collection by conducting medical chart reviews. May assist with screening subjects for research studies.

Responsibilities
    Performs data collection by reviewing electronic health records and medical databases. Recruits and screens subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. Checks for validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Responsible for managing and analyzing data based on guidance from PI. Collects and processes clinical research data on participant performance and progress, reviews documentation in medical records, and provides correspondence and communication pertinent to the research. Assists in the preparation and submission of study progress reports.
  • Establishes and maintains database files and progress reports for studies, projects, and programs. May perform data analysis and interpretation.
  • Performs scientific literature searches, identification, and retrieval.
  • Performs administrative duties such as: assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers and abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies, developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participates in field visits; responds to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies and funding agencies and participates in the design of research studies.
  • Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations including editing and formatting documents. Distributes manuscripts and reports to all scientific collaborators as required.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor.
  • General knowledge of clinical or general research techniques.
  • Experience with use of electronic health medical record systems is desirable.
  • Experience in or exposure to research in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • Experience with amputee care is desirable
  • Familiarity and experience with research design, data collection and computerized systems, and experience with laboratory management and administrative activities highly preferred
  • Ability to learn new software quickly, trouble-shoot computer related issues, and provide a high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
Qualifications

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Exercise Science (i.e., Kinesiology, Physiology) or related field.
  • Level I: Minimum of 0 to 2 years experience required.
  • Level II: Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience required.

Compensation

  • The likely salary range for this position is $19.90 USD to $31.84 USD per hour. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensations or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education.

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
